High Performance “Community Healthcare Hub” first of its kind in Ontario

For Immediate Release: February 18th/2014

Vaughan, ON, February 18, 2014 – DCL Healthcare Properties Inc. is bringing the future of healthcare facilities to Niagara Falls, Ontario. Located at 7000 Montrose Road next to the Macbain Community complex, the 52,000 sq. ft. DCL Niagara Medical Arts Centre will be what CEO, Frank Deluca terms “A Community Healthcare Hub” the first of its kind in Ontario.

As one of the first projects through the Enbridge “Savings By Design” program the building has benefited from extensive engineering and planning to develop a truly innovative patient practitioner centered design. The facility will be one of the most high performance, green/sustainable medical facilities in the province, and looks to be CSA Z8000 compliant, the new standard accreditation for healthcare facilities.

“The DCL Green Healthcare Centre development is an opportunity to clearly demonstrate that design, construction and building operations can affordably be achieved and do so in balance with the environment” says Gerry A. Faubert, CET, LEED® AP Managing Partner at Integral Group, one of the leading revolutionary engineering companies working on the project. “The DCL team understands the relevance and context of climate and place, how buildings respond to the environment and how the Green Healthcare Centre positively contributes to the greater community and residents to which this centre will serve.”

Many features within the DCL Centre address years of practitioner frustrations with traditional medical buildings from attention to interior aesthetics and patient comfort to energy costs and air quality. The burden of institutional parking fees are also eliminated with 278 free parking on site for patients, visitors and tenants; no details have been spared in the design of the facility, to ensure that the innovative technologies facilitate systems and processes that will make real change for health-care providers and patients.

DCL Healthcare Properties Inc. intends to break ground in June 2014, the four acre site will also offer over 20,000 sq. ft. of hospitality food service to accommodate the thousands of visitors a day at the MacBain Community Centre and the future DCL Niagara Medical Arts Centre.
